This year’s fall play was The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Set during the Salem Witch Trials, The Crucible follows John Proctor, a farmer who is forced to reconcile his past mistakes when his wife is accused of witchcraft. The community is torn apart by false accusations and tension builds when judges from Boston are called to the trials. Innocent townspeople are condemned, including Proctor, who must make a choice to confess to a crime he didn’t commit or be put to death as a man of honor. This reimagining of Arthur Miller’s classic play featured a cast and crew of 60 students and a town overcome by chaos. It’s an exceptionally challenging piece and the students really pushed themselves, working with elements of performance that haven’t been done in a while because of COVID. This was a new interpretation of the piece, written 70 years ago and set in 1692. There were elements of stage combat and dance that added to the complexity! There is some exceptional talent in the show, along with creative students working on the crew. The show took place on October 13th, 14th, and October 15th. Seniors in the play this year were: Kayleigh Williams as Tituba, Molly Ryan as Mercy Lewis, Jack Repak as Elizabeth Proctor, Alex Grajales as Francis Nurse, Daniel Ridler as Judge Hathrone, Drew Utech as Governor Danforth, and Annemarie Pollard as Marty Corey
